Just received a really cool 3D Cad design of the upcoming 6mm Orbital Combine Super-Heavy Tank from Marios at Plasma Blast Games.  This sucker is huge.

The turtlemech model has been completed and sent off to printing, so here are some images of the completed mecha. The little dude standing in front is 6mm tall.

Here are some shots of some Back2Base-IX fight stands in action.  The ships used are from GW's Epic range and are solid metal.  As you can see one of the ships is quite large being a Space Marine Thunderhawk Gunship.  The ships could have easily been spaceships from any of the various manufactures.  All ships were held pretty tight and could easily be moved during game play and turned upside down without losing the magnetic connection.  The system works really well and is a perfect solution for any gamer requiring flight stands.  As a side note, I didn't remove the protective paper on the bottom of the bases yet, so that is why they look light brown.

Notice the only thing required on the ships are little magnets.
These round magnets along with square magnets are supplied with the bases.

Here is a shot of the Back2Base-IX stands next to my own stands.
I created my stands using 2 different sized square brass rods.
Both work, but Back2Base-IX design is much more elegant.

Daemon Scape is a fantastic little company out of the UK.  They specialize in resin terrain for 6mm and 28mm.  Daemon Scape also sells textured bases in both round and square fashion.  Below are just a few items from their 6mm range.

Missile Silo, Large Bunker and Barricades
As you can see the terrain is quite big.

Xmarx has a fantastic terrain set that not only looks good, but is an amazing deal.  You're not going to find a better deal than this unless you're buying something used.  The whole set sells for under $10.  Something like this from most other companies would cost at least double that.

The Geo Dome set consists of 9 pieces:
2 Small Domes
1 Large Dome
4 Corridors
1 3-way Junction
1 4-way Junction

The set assembled as shown measures approximatley 10" long, 6 1/2" wide and the large dome is 1 1/4" tall.

Those of you who love the Plasma Blast Game figures like I do will be happy to hear there are some army lists out for Future War Commander

Peter Jones from Specialist Military Publishing has kindly written army lists for the Future War Commander ruleset. The lists cover both the Progenitors and the Orbital Combine so all of you who have this excellent ruleset will be able to play it with Plasmablast miniatures without having to create a list by yourselves. Visit downloads to get them.

Well I just received 3 1/300 terrain pieces from Snapdragon Studio.  The pieces are far better than I had thought they would be.  They are cast in a very strong resin, which seem heavier than most.  The models themselves are beautiful.   The bad news is......these are probably in limited supply.  If your interested in any of these buildings get them while their still around.

I was asked if I could show some comparisons of various 6mm robot/walker types out there especially Dark Realm Miniatures (Verger and Velite) vs GW Dreadnought.  As you can see the DRM are at least 1/3 bigger than the Dreadnought.  Below are figures from Dark Realm Miniatures, Ground Zero Games, Exodus Wars and Games Workshop.

DRM - Skyth Beast, Torakk Rider
EW - Guild Mounted Bounty Hunter
GZG - Large Mecha Unit (Germy's Micro Minis), GW - Dreadnought
DRM Verger & Velite

The Werewolf Alpha Male is about 26mm to the top of his head, 24mm to the eyes.

The Aquaman is 22mm to the top of the crest on the head and 18mm to the eyes.

All of those minis will be sold in packets of eight minis [two copies
each of four different variants].

The werewolf heads sprue should fit most modern sized 15mm minis.

Here are a few pictures of some production models of upcoming Exodus Wars 6mm figures with their older model counter parts.  I got to say these are awesome.  The discoloration in the metal is due to these being new casts.  The new Valkyrie is absolutely gorgeous.  I have been told these should be available sometime probably in February/March.

I hate to say this, but I have been playing Epic with a few friends lately and well sort of liking it.  Anyway I thought some people might like to see what the current Epic Land Raider looks like.  I do think it is sort of cool seeing the progression.  There might be other versions of it, but I haven't see them yet.  I know there was a plastic version of the original meal version.  I do think the newest version is probably the nicest looking and is a little larger than its predecessors.  At $35 for 4 though, you probably will not pick up too many.

If you're interested in trying out Epic Amrmageden, the rules are free.   I came across a website that has some really cool Epic army cards and updated versions www.epicarmycard.com.

Just received some really nice 6mm-10mm vehicles from Reiver Castings.  The vehicles are very generic and would work well with any sci-fi human army list.  The vehicles come in 3 sizes (Small, Medium and Large).  The large vehicles are more 10mm scale.  The small vehicles IMO are best suited for 6mm scale.

Just finished putting together the Solar Panel Array by Xmarx.  This is the perfect terrain piece for any games from 6mm to 28mm ("Scale Neutral").  The Solar Panel Array comes in an eight piece set (1 base, 1 rod, 3 panels & 3 panel holder pieces) and is very easy to construct.  Each panel holder has a little key pad which could be used to turn on and off the panel or whatever a game may require, if anything.

I went to a local con here in Round Rock Texas a few weekends ago called Millennium Con.  During the con I found a really nice guy parting with a bunch of OOP GW Epic stuff.  Some of the figures I had never seen before.  I ended getting a really good deals on the figures I bought.  The ones I was really interested in were the OOP drop pods.  The pods came in 3 versions including: Closed pod, open pod with some sort of tower or tower weapon and open pod with some sort of gun.  The pods are based on a 30mm round base.  Check out my other Drop Pod post for other pods from other companies.

Just recently I picked up a bunch of Renegade Legion Anti-Grav Tanks.  I really like the bodies of the tanks, but the turrets leave something to be desired IMO.  They are small and the guns are old school, which means extremely flimsy and bend way too easily.   FASA no longer produces these models, but the good news is you can buy them at CinC.  Bases used are 30x40 and 20x40 (Width/Length).

Below are the 6mm LRM Turret & SRM Turret terrain/Heavy weapon pieces from Xmarx.  Both these products are 'scale neutral' and could easily be used in any Sci-Fi games from 6mm-28mm.  You will need to file a few areas of the models to remove excess resin, but it is very easy to do.  Most of the excess resin is rice paper thin and can be easily removed by hand.  Xmarx does make a bigger version of the LMR turret in 25mm scale.

Back in the day Ral Partha used to produce Ogre models for Steve Jackson Games.  Today you can find similar Ogre models at Warhouse 23.  IMO the earlier versions produced by Ral Partha were actually better cast than today's versions.  Ral Partha's versions also contained more metal making them heavier.  If you look at Ral Partha models vs the newer Steve Jackson Games models, you can see that the new versions have had a few modifications made to them.  If you have a chance to get the earlier Ral Partha figures, I would definitely get those.

The origin of the walking dead remains shrouded in mystery. What is known is that the cause is a highly contagious disease passed on through any form of ingestion or contact with their bodily fluids. Whole worlds can be overtaken unless swift and decisive military action is taken by the defending garrisons.

Often military commanders have been engaged in combat only to realise that a far more dangerous foe is present on the battlefield when zombies wander into the warzone hunting for fresh meat.

On Monday I received a package from ZandrisIV Miniatures and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.  For some reason I originally thought the miniatures were resin, but what I received was in fact good old fashion metal.  Oh yea.  ZandrisIV Miniatures produces both Starships and 6mm Microarmour.   I really like the futuristic Kasturi Hovertank and Derhaka Recon Skimmer.  ZandrisIV Miniatures doesn't have a large selection in the 6mm scale, but what they do have are very nice.  If you're and Ogre fan you might find these vehicles to be just the ticket.

15mm (Khurasan Miniatures - (Parasachnid Bioweapons)
28mm (I want to say these were old GZG Arachnid like Warrior Bugs).  You may be able to substitute these with  Mongoose Publishing's Arachnid Warrior Bugs, from the OOP game Starship Troopers.

It seem that a lot of gamers are sort of mixed about how to base their 6mm infantry and vehicles if at all.  Last night I decided to really think about the best way to go about doing this and I think I have come up with some good solutions.

Normal Sized Infantry - base them 3 to 5 per stand using a 40x15mm stand.
Large Infantry - base them 1 to 3 per stand using a 40x20mm stand
Small Vehicles - base them 2 to 3 per stand using a 40x20mm stand.
Large Vehicles - base them 1 per stand using a 30x40mm stand.
Very Large Vehicles/Monsters - Here I think you can use either square or round bases.  For Vehicles I will probably opt for either a 40x40mm stand or larger.  For Monsters I tend to like round bases and I am thinking 40mm or 50mm should be sufficient.

Below are some samples of Plasmablast Games vehicles for both the Progenitor and Orbital Combine forces.

I just discovered a website company called Snapdragon Studio.  The good news is they offer a large selection of really nice looking 6mm Sci-Fi buildings.  The bad news is......these are probably in limited supply.  If your interested in any of these buildings get them while their still around.

Here are just a few buildings I thought had a lot of character.

From Their Website

Important:  Please note as 1st November 2009.  All existing ranges will become unavailable as cast items. Stock only after 1st November.  Painted items are no longer available. Stock only.

Reason:  As some people may remember I had a problem with one of my arms some years ago. This has become increasingly painful and problematic over the years most notably the last year. Managing only 2 or 3 hours casting or painting a day is no longer viable. Contract casting is not an option. Too many different molds to manage.  Its time to call it a day on the general items listings.

What I can still do however is the master making.

So the plan is.  Limited edition sets of 50/ 100 only. All new items.

Example: Russian front saw mill with all associated outbuildings houses etc.  See In the works page

I think this is the most manageable solution for me. I have a set number of items that need casting and somebody to do it for me.  I’m enthusiastic about this this new direction and hope people will understand my decision for taking it.

Plasmablast Games was kind enough to send out some amazing samples for me to review.  To say these figures are gorgeous is an understatement.  Marios has done an outstanding job combining the talents of Elixirion Design Lab, 3dmiaoworks and Grey Army sculpture studio to make the perfect 6mm figures. The batch I received had zero flash, which I found simply amazing.  The figures were clean, crisp and free of any defects.

The Progenitor and Orbital Combine vehicles have a very high-tech feel to them.  Their low profile, makes them really stand out.  The Grav-Tanks have little tabs on the bottom, making them appear to hover.  Each army has heavy, medium and light tanks as well as some specialty units.  Both armies also have air support in the form of fast fighters and support crafts.  When a ground offensive really gets nasty, infantry is your best friend.  Plasmablast Games also carries infantry in the form of light and heavy troopers.

Wargames Factory has some really nice looking 6mm Sci-Fi Androids up for pre order.  When I checked their site they had 338 (83% pre-ordered) left to go.  According to their website, once they hit the magical number of 2000 pre-orders, they will start production.  To pre-order these cool looking figures go to Wargames Factory Pre-Order page.
