Daemon Scape is a fantastic little company out of the UK.  They specialize in resin terrain for 6mm and 28mm.  Daemon Scape also sells textured bases in both round and square fashion.  Below are just a few items from their 6mm range.

Missile Silo, Large Bunker and Barricades
As you can see the terrain is quite big.

There is a fantastic company out there called Back2Base-iX that makes magnetic flight stands.  The stands are made out of durable acrylic.  The stands work using magnets to attach planes/spaceships/grav tanks or whatever.  You get 4 stands for $10.95.  What is great about these stands is you can use them for multiple roles.  Since they use magnets all you have to do use equip your spaceships/airplanes/gav vehicles with magnets and your ready to go.  This means you probably only need 1 or 2 packs of stands for all your flight stand requirements.

Each flight stand is comprised of a 1 base, 1 peg,
1 Round 3mm (diameter) x 2mm (thickness) Magnet, 1 3mm Square Magnet.

The square magnet goes into the flight stand.
The round one goes into your spaceship/gav vehicle/airplane or whatever.
Important note - make sure of polarity before gluing the magnets into their proper places.

Just received some amazing 3D CADs from Jimbo.  Here is the first view of the 6mm armies for Art crime production, sculpted by Ben Skinner called the Makat.   The robe has been melded with the right leg and lower part of the staff to ease casting and ensure rigidity.  These figures are absolutely amazing.  This is the 6mm version. The 15mm version will have more detail.

Every now an then I find myself purchasing GW items.  Well a few weeks ago I needed some more paint brushes and all that were available were new GW brushes.  I figured I would give them a go.  Wow.  I have to say they really hit them out of the park.  These new Citadel brushes are awesome.  I am normally used to using 00 or 000 brushes.  The Citadel brushes were much bigger and longer than what I was used to.

What I find really interesting with these brushes is they seem to hold the paint better than brushes I have used in the past, which makes it easier to apply.   I am not exactly sure why this is, but I have to say I was really impressed. I also found that you could really achieve a nice point at the end of the brush for detailing figures.  I think I would still use a 000 brush for eyes and such, but these are now going to be my go to brushes for figures.

I picked up the Detail Brush, Standard Brush, Basecoat Brush, Small Drybrush, and the Medium Drybrush.  I have heard good things about the Wash Brush.

So I had another game of Wyrd Miniatures - Mailfaux last night.  I got spanked, but had a great time.  Everytime I play I find things I did wrong in the last game.  There is definitely a learning curve to the game.  Here are some really cool PDFs for you to check out.

Zombie Smith has some really nice previews of their upcoming 15mm Quar.

From Their Website

Should be coming in the next few weeks. Right now there are 11 Crusader infantry poses (or 22, depending on how you count, each pose has a variant either with softcap/bare-head or a helmet.) There are 5 officer poses and I am finishing up the LMG and Mortar teams. Also note that since quar are smaller than humans, these guys are about 11mm tall. More later!

I thought I would do something a little different today.  Last week I got the chance to play a game that I must say is very different from the norm. There was no way I was going to get sucked into a weird steam punk game, but then I found myself having nothing better to do than to give it a go with a few friends.  After the game I was completely floored by how good the game mechanics were and how fun the game was.

The game is called Malifaux by Wyrd Miniatures.  Malifaux is a 32mm steam punk type game, set in its own universe.  To say it is out there is an understatement, yet after you play the game you will probably be hooked.  Here is a video overview.

The game consists of running a gang of miniatures that is referred to as a Crew.  Each Crew consists of 1 or 2 Masters and a bunch of Minions.  To begin a game, players decide on the Encounter size, Scrap or Brawl.   Scraps consist of (1-45) Soulstones  and Brawls consist of (30-70) Soulstones.  Encounter size determines Soulstone Pool #, # of Control Hand cards, # of Masters and # of Schemes.  Soulstones are used to purchase the Master's Minions and create a Crew as well as perform various actions during game play.  Control Hand cards are used throughout the game.  Schemes are mini assignments that earn a Crew victory points.

Currently there are 5 different Crew types including:  The Guild (Wild West), The Resurrectionists (Undead), The Arcanists (Magically Inclined), The Neverborn (Things that go bump in the night), The Outcasts (Mercenaries).  Rather than use dice the game uses what is referred to as a Fate deck (52 playing cards with a twist).

Each figure has various stats including Walk/Charge (Wk/Ch), Height (Ht), Willpower (Wp), Casting (Ca), Defense (Df), Wounds (Wd), Soulstone Cost, Soulston

Khurasan Miniatures - Molokon-Rattler (15mm Spider/Mech type figure).

From Khurasan Miniature's Blog

Mike Broadbent has created the 15mm Rattler model, which has six legs which plug into holes along the main chassis of the unit, as well as a gun torso and head, which like the legs is posable. As can be seen from the photo below, there's some flexibility in the models -- for instance, simply remove the hatchet head of the Rattler and its whole looks changes to a more arachnoid look. These are also quite suitable as sentry robots or similar for 28mm gaming.
